Breakout Session Seven-- Presenter's Bio

Mr. Walton is senior vice-president for Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield. In this position, Aaron
provides executive oversight and maintains principle accountability for the corporation's strategic
community and external health initiatives in western and central Pennsylvania. He oversees the
activities of three of the corporations affiliate organizations: Health Education Center, which
promotes healthy lifestyles at the community level, the Western Pennsylvania Caring Foundation,
and Highmark/Ornish National Joint Venture Co for Reversing Heart Disease. Additionally, he serves
as principal Highmark liaison and Chairman of Board for Gateway Health Plan. Mr. Walton joined the
corporation in 1970 and has held a variety of positions including: Vice President, Customer Service
for Blue Cross of Western Pennsylvania; President of Pen-Wel, Inc, President of Health Relates
Services Maine; and Senior Vice President of Trans-General Casualty Insurance Company, Inc.
Mr. Walton holds a BS in speech pathology and audiology from California University of Pennsylvania
and a masters degree in public policy and management from Carnegie Mellon University. Mr. Walton
is active in the community and serves on several boards, including positions as chairman of the
Council of Trustees, California University of Pennsylvania, Carlow College Board of Trustees,
Gateway Health Plan, Youth Crime Prevention Council of Allegheny County; and Leadership
Pittsburgh to name a few.
