Next Steps

In March 2002 invitations were sent to several organizations in southwestern Pennsylvania requesting their submission of a proposal to host the Financial Services Industry Cluster. The selected organization will receive a grant from Workforce Connections to support the Financial Services Cluster Coordination. 

It is the intention of the steering committee that this new partnership will organize the regional voice of the employers of the Financial Services industry cluster and to facilitate the connections between that employer voice and supply side partners. Specific responsibilities include:

1. establishing, convening and sustaining a region-wide employer advisory panel and a coalitions for stakeholders focuses on addressing the development, recruitment and retention needs of the Financial Services cluster
2. facilitating the maintenance of data on industry and workforce trends;
3. developing a marketing message for the cluster's workforce needs; and 
4. working with the Financial Services employer advisory group and stakeholders to identify, design, fund and spearhead the implementation of "signature" initiatives for the cluster.

Once the organization has been chosen, a highly dedicated staff person will coordinate this initiative to advance the creation of a demand driven workforce development system for southwestern Pennsylvania.
